BOY'S TRACK Track Team Finds Stars The 1973 Track and Field Team, individual-wise, was the best that Barlow ever produced. Two Bruins made the state meet and nearly a third, which is a new first for Barlow Track. Larry Stanley took the district title for the second straight year in the pole vault, setting a school record this season of 14-6. And a sophomore, Tim Chain, was a surprise winner in the 880, upsetting the field with a school record time of 1:58. 1. Senior john Yotmg snapped school records in the 440 numerous times during the season including a 50. 9. With a dislocated ankle he settled for third at district. Incredibly enough, a freshman took ownership of the shot-put record. jim Pitts heaved the ball over 48 feet and made district finals. The jV's compiled a near perfect 7-1 standing and the frosh an equally impressive 12-2. Awards were given to Larry Stanley as Team Captain and to john Young as Most Improved Varsity Trackman.
