thletes in Action Lettermens' Club was quite active this year. They started their year with the faculty-lettermen game, which the faculty won for the 3rd year in a row. The game was followed by a dance which fea- tured the Portland Zoo. The lettermen also had a little fun of their own at their two initiations, and victory week car bash. Lettermen were very generous this year. They held a special second car bash to earn money to donate to the Perry Childrens' Center. Lettermen also contri- buted to the legion baseball game, the senior classes' Peruvian orphan, and next year's rally squad. l. Lettermen oflicers: Pres., Jim Eks- tromg V.P., Bob Thornfeldtg I.O.C. New Group Successful For the first time Bruins could tap ffl S their feet to music as they watched t I-1 twelve vivacious girls go through their 8 routines at halftime. CI The group was formed in early S November, when the girls tried out in front of a teachers' screening com- mittee. Twelve were chosen, and right away went to work. The team practiced two nights a week, and worked out their own rou- tines. They also made their own out- fits. The team danced at every Tuesday and Friday night basketball game. Several students commented that they were glad to have the halftime enter- tainment. l. The dance team goes through their routine at half- time, 2, The great flub-up! 3.
