Although Student Council did not make great advancements toward a new form of govern- ment, several other activities filled the year. An annual money making drive was held early in the year with Barlow students selling approximately eight hundred dollars worth of delightful and delicious jawbreakers. The remains, all too often were found scattered throughout the hallways. As usual, Student Council funded many all- school projects. However, one of the most unique, as well as rewarding projects undertaken was a drive to find books for a sister school in Vietnam. This year, as well as in past years, Student Council was privileged to have the services of a fine advisor. Mr. J. Robert Barber took over the responsibilities previously held by Mr. Van Gil- lam. Together with Mr. Barber, Executive Council, Student Council, and I.O.C. worked toward mak- ing Barlow students aware that student govern- ment is important. The Student Curriculum Committee, headed by Mr. Robert Taylor, not only tried to unite stu- dents in the ideas of classes, but also made stu- dents and faculty realize that all issues dealing with curriculum, environment, and human un- derstanding can and should be rewarding. l. Taking notes is very becoming to Corresponding Secretary Laurie Duncan. 2. Activities Director, J. Robert Barber throws his wisdom into the ring.
