' Less Girls, More ork With a change to five from seven girls on each rally this year, the girls chosen by the student body had to work almost twice as hard to achieve the same effect. Posters, as- semblies, game decorations and practices took up hours of work. This forced each girl to carefully ration her work load in order to maintain her grade point average necessary to remain on rally. Despite the tight schedule and rabid work sessions, rally still had its merits. Said Diana Didtel, rally member, The games are always fun. l. Six Points, Season of Frustration A small team and lack of depth told the story of Barlow's '70 Varsity Football Z'-l team. The squad showed great teamwork and desire in the early minutes of sever- 'QP al of the games. For the most part, however, Barlow's moments of glory were O' short-lived. ln the first half of the game Barlow fans saw their team hold its own QQ against Clackamas, though the Bruins were finally defeated 14-0. The Bruin's lone touchdown came against Putnam in the second game of the season. The en- thusiasm generated early in the year was renewed at the Gresham game. As they often did, the Bruinls spirited squad took control in the first few minutes of the game. The tide soon turned, however, and Barlow ended up on the lower end of a 28-0 score. Overall, though, the team showed great pride and desire in the game, and it was one of their best efforts of the season. Even though the season ended up with several big defeats, the '70 Bruin football squad showed a spirit that was a great inspiration and encouragement to the students of Barlow. l. Coach Robert Moeller wears a look of despair as he watches the game. 2. Barlow and Gresham linemen meet as Jim Ekstrom charges for a first down. 3. Roger Schilperoort fades for a pass. 4. Dave Wallace bulls his way for a few extra yards. 5. John Doss attempts a punt. 6. Blair Anderson looks for running room. 7. Coach Marius Brockway talks over strategy with quarter- back Roger Schilperoort. 8. Jim Twinkle-toes Ekstrom prepares to in- tercept a pass. 35
