Business, Home Ec Expand Creative cookery, clothing, child development, textiles, marriage preparation and other skills were among the basic course offerings that girls studied in home economics. Each course was available to any girl, regardless of homemaking background and experience. All courses were directed toward helping girls develop their skills and abilities neces- sary for their future roles as wives, mothers, while also strengthening and promoting family living and self under- standing. Business Machines and Business Law were two new courses added to the standard business classes this year. Also added to increase the knowledge of this section was a busi- ness lab. Cassettes, earphones and video tapes enabled stu- dents to learn at their own speed. Part of the year was de- voted to setting up a model office. Business classes hope to work together for an actual business and run the school store. I it Diane Yamashita demon strates her award winning ability to cook on T.V

Computers Teach This year's Social Studies depart- ment, headed by Curtis Knight, began a new approach to learning. A do your own thing type of schedule was tried by both the U.S. History and Modern Problems classes. This en- abled a student to pursue a subject that interested him over the nine weeks period. Computer games were an addition this year. As an economic experience, the Modern Problems classes formed corporations and bid, bought, sold, and turned bankrupt-all by com- puter. A new computer game for foreign affairs will, hopefully, be used next year along with the present game. Other new horizons that were spanned included the history classes' bouts with the stock market, psycho- logical discussions in Modern Prob- lems, Vietnam readings and cam- paigns.
