GOIN COURTIN ' Hearts and flowers were actually the motif for our Court Cotillion. We anticipated the usual April tradition by this February frolic with its Val- entine atmosphere. Gail Fontaine is crowned by the no less charming Virginia Shaughnessy. A moment to remember out of many happy moments of that evening. The Court Cotillion — a Freshman ' s cherished memory. Lights softly dimmed, couples swaying to the strains of Ken Reeves ' orchestra, awed by the splendor of Ochre Court. The anticipa ' tion of our first semi-formal dance at last fulfilled. The first of many significant social events of our college career. Loretta Maguire, Gail Fontaine, Charlene Vitullo and Gail Finn with their escorts proudly face the camera as members of a very successful dance committee.

STUDENT GOV ' T Student Council is the intermediary body between admin ' istration, faculty and students. To achieve the perfect working of this definition is the ideal for which our student council at Salve Regina strives. In its thirteen year history it has been an effective agent, securing benefits which have profited the faculty and student, developing a feeling of ccoperation in all phases of college life. RING AROUND THE MOON February bleak — not for the Juniors. The Ring Ceremony and the Sapphire Ball usher in that first February weekend and over ' shadow all else that short month has to offer. The thrill of the ring bestowal, the shining splendor of the star sapphire, the glory of the formal ball in the unrivaled beauty of Ochre Court — February bleak — not for Juniors. Nan Kelly, our Junior rice president, welcomes the faculty, guests and parents to a very important, long anticipated event — the February 6, 1959 ring ceremony at Ochre Court.
