We find S.H.S. to be a kaleidoscope of new experiences and bright horizons. Here we strive for originality. We reach for a way to develop ourselves, to become individuals. We take repeated stabs at the unknown, attempting to discover “why”. Sometimes, strenuous efforts are rewarded only with empty minds and aching bodies. Other times we reach our goal with understanding and clarity. c C T7 — I — C—T—O — R — Y, V that’s the Trojan battle cry! These words can be heard echoing through the halls at S.H.S. while the cheerleaders host the annual pep assemblies. “We just try to get the crowd to participate,” comments cheerleading captain Susan Fulton. “The more involved the students get, the more spirited our school becomes.” Saltsburg High’s enthusiasm was quite evident during spirit week when a number of activities were sponsored by the cheerleaders to unite the student body and arouse school spirit. The various themes for the week were, “Hat Day,” “Red and White Day,” and “Stinger Day.” The highlight of Spirit Week was the door decorating contest in which each homeroom battled to capture first place. Saltsburg is surrounded by an atmosphere of enthusiasm and emotion, and highlighted by the excitement of athletic events and pep rallies. Excitement, tension, and suspense—a stimulating part of life at S.H.S. Underclassmen girls climb to the top! The students are excited that Friday is finally here.
