Sadecky. Mr. Sadecky has shown on countless occasions his genuine interest in the students of Saltsburg High School. In the past Mr. Sadecky has contributed to the athletic program of Saltsburg High School by helping to coach both our football and basketball teams. But Mr. Sadecky’s involvement reaches beyond athletics. He has also been one of the sponsors of the Sportsman’s Club for some years, and when the Youth Education Association found themselves in need of a new sponsor. Mr. Sadecky stepped in willing to sacrifice more of his time for the students. On behalf of the entire school, the yearbook staff of 1978 would like to thank you, Mr. Sadecky, for being the fine teacher and concerned friend you have always been to the students of Saltsburg High School. 3 Shiver ' Won me Ambers! °®favvare Changing classes can be fun I must be crazy to be out in this weather! on this “Boogie Night” Homecoming Dance: All in favor, raise Christmas Dance: No thanks Tom. I think I’ll just sit this one your hand. out! Throughout the year many clubs and organizations sponsor dances. They’re very popular because while a club is raising money they can also have a good time. On this page we feature pictures of people enjoying themselves at various dances held this year. Halloween Dance: Are you sure we can’t persuade you to change your mind? . . . But When “We’re All Alone” . . . What a fate! Left alone to read Shakespeare! Because “Nobody Does It Better.” The yearbook staff of 1978 would like to extend our mose sincere thanks to Mary Ann Kier for the excellent job she did on the cover, title page, and division pages of this book. Mary Ann has a great talent, and with her industrious attitude is sure to go far. Thanks to Mary Ann’s artistic ability the 1978 La Saltianna really does have “A Touch Of Class!” I hope she didn't notice I spilled the sugar. Donald Duck will be here at 1:00 to speak to the National Honor Society, and during the 7th period the Physics class will be conducting an experiment to see how long it takes Mr. Flack to fall from the third floor windows. Teachers are asked to ignore the screams. I'm so happy here I could just . . . scream! 9 Although “It Feels Like The First Time” 10 Various members of the class of ’78 starting their first year under the guidance of Mrs. Beers. Trea. -Marcy Miller Advisor-Mr. Fenoglietto 14 In the fall of 1972, nearly one hundred shaky-kneed seventh graders entered the high school doors into the world of the unknown. This journey would take six long years to complete. We began to get more and more involved with school activities. Michelle Rossi and John Nepsha were elected to represent us as crown bearers for the Sweater Hop. Graduating into eighth grade proved that we actually endured a full year of hectic high school life. We held our heads a little higher as we watched over the new seventh graders wandering the halls with dazed expressions on their faces. After two years, we finally earned a class title, Freshmen. We faced the greatest challenge ever set before us — planning a dance. The theme of our Freshman Class Sweater Hop was “Precious Moments”. We elected Kathy Hemphill, Tracy Hornock, Karen Johns, Kathe Kiser, Kathy Moon, Bob Cindric, Frank Julian, Mike Kachonik, John Nepsha, and Dave Radomski to escort the Seniors on the big night; Maria Machulsky, Marcy Miller, John Curto, and Stan Trybus served as ushers. The announcers for the evening were Michelle Rossi and Bob Bell. During our Sophomore year, we proudly extended our hands to show off our brand new class rings. Our main duty this year was to sponsor the Christmas Dance. The dance proved to be such a great success that even Santa came to join in the fun. Selling jewelry, pies, and popcorn were a few of the activities to raise money for our Junior Prom. Minds were busy thinking of a theme and decorations. We decided to name it “Traces of Love” and planned it around a country setting with a gazebo and a pond. The year 1978 had finally come; the year to make the most important decisions that ever faced us. We all wondered what we would be doing in ten years and if we would still be close with our high school friends. It was a future filled with uncertainties, but most of us were excited to go out and face the world on our own. The club was instrumental in coordinating a student tutoring program, with the learning disabilities teacher, Miss Piper. A “Gateway Clipper” excursion was also on the agenda of activities. Club volunteers worked hard to raise funds for the benefit of Childrens’ Hospital. They also sponsored the first dance of the school year. An important function of the Y.E.A. is planning and carrying out the “student teaching” days in the fall and spring. They concluded the year’s activities by attending the P.Y.E.A. convention, in the spring of 1978. Kneeling: D. Cribbs-Historian. Parliamentarian. Standing L-R, B. Bell-President. R.
