,-- 'g Wheat fire and a sword symbols of the abundance of Arizona and the zeal and strength of her youth are portrayed in the symbol of the Arizona Association of Student Councils Discussing the ideals of the AASC as applied in the Lancer Lore official handbook of the SHS Student Council are Student Council Treasurer Penne Hoover Vice President john Kurtm President Ralph Salgado Moderator Sister Eugene Recording Secretary Carolyn Miller and Corresponding Secretary Mar garet Greeley The Student Council at Salpointe High School is an important part of the administration. The Council handles its job of student administra- tion well' it capably and efficiently performs many tasks for the school which could not be carried out as effectively by any other organiza- tion in the school. The patio clean-up system cafeteria clean-up system program of orienta- tion for new students freshman initiation week and the freshman mixer sponsorship of the an- nual magazine drive sponsorship of the yearly Christmas-box collection for needy children and many other jobs are' all done by the Council. One of the biggest projects of the Student Coun- cil this year was the complete production of a movie as a project for National Dress Right Week. In addition to the administrative work it performs the Student Council acts as the prin- cipal bridge between faculty and students. Any student may have his complaints or suggestions brought up in a Council meeting. A student is invited to attend any meeting of the Council. The Salpointe Student Council is organized in three main divisions. Student Body President Vice-President Recording Secretary Corresponding Secretary and Treasurer are elected by the entire student body in the spring preceding the year they serve. These officers con- duct business with other schools the commu- nity and between faculty and students. Each class elects a president and delegate who help administer their own classes. The House of Rep- resentatives is made up of one member of each homeroom. The representatives are elected by their class they are the means by which the students in their homeroom may voice opinions to the Council. They take part in all discussions and debates but unlike the student body offi- cers and class presidents and delegates they have no vote. Sister Eugene as moderator of the Student Council guides its work and helps make it the efficient capable organization that it is. Student Administration Works With Efficiency, Loyalty U .
