KNEELING Jack Randolf Mgr Mr. Hays, Coach: Jim Herndon, Scorekeeper. At the beginning of the current basketball season, the Savages under Coach George Hyas, look better than they hadin some of the past seasons. However as the season rolled along, long and frequent road trips against heavy opposition told the story and the Savages ended the season with ll wins and 9 losses. Many of the losses were by small margins. The team is to be congratulated as it enters the district tournament OPPONENT EE- THEY Challis 40 36 Dillon 35 34 South Fremont' 34 42 Idaho Falls 30 50 Challis 49 35 Shelley' 52 43 Haily 38 33 Madison' 46 4l Teton 39 27 Bonneville' 38 4l Hamilton 50 45 Rigb ' 39 53 South Fremont' 52 50 Shelley' 52 42 Hamilton 43 48 Madison' 62 66 Dillon 43 78 Bonneville' 47 69 Rigby' 44 53 Firth 69 45 Total 902 931 ' Conference Games

Playing bigger and more experienced teams, the Papooses played much better ball than the statistics indicate. The squad is to be congratulated for playing a very fine brand of team ball with few out- standing stars but many good all-round players. It is from the ranks of such teams as this that the hopes for better football teams shall arise. The material produced by this team will do much to foster a good varsity team spirit in l959. SEASON'S RECORD Although they started slow, the Junior Varsity, under coach Harvey Welch, came along stronger as the season progressed. Like the Varsity, the JV's found the season rougher as we went into league play and the road tri s killing. The JV's managed to score 761 points against 846 For their opponents. This difference came about mainly through poor showings during the early part of the season when inexperience was the main obstacle to overcome. Our congratulations to Coach Welch and his squad.
