Now that children are six they must adapt to a full day away from home and mother and most exciting of all, this is the year when they ioin the magie circle of those who know howto read. - Margaret Wilson ln the first grade the aim is to guide the child in the best development and use of his emotional, intellectual, and moral capacities, so that he will adiust satisfactorily to his social pattern. We try to train the child to listen and to read with understand' ing, to speak and write effectively, to think and to be creative. Lavetta Smith gp-4 -1- T' Q.. Sue Allen Sandra 'C Ball Eddie Barnes Carolyn Barrett IFUEBSU' GRADE Teaching is not an easy task. It has more thm its share of problems, yet the satisfactions derived from teaching off set all its problems. One of the greatest satisfactions of the first grade teacher is gained from the perpetuation of that eagerness to learn, which most beginners possess, and to see it blossom forth like a flower as the child makes that first adventure into a new world of learning.
