The many young boys and girls who have left its halls of learning are a credit to the entire com unity, and to the whole community they owe a debt for the training they have acquired here. For them, as they become more active in the affairs of life, and for us call it is well to know that life is not divided into distinct periods of learning and of work. We work while we learn, and learn while we work. Greater opportunity for skill and wisdom and greater need for sincere devotion to country and to our fellow men, has seldom, if ever, faced the youth of America If you, the 1942 graduates of Sallisaw High School , apply your learning to better meet the ordinary situation of life, for the benefit of man and for the preservation of our American ideals, continuing to learn as you go about l1fe's work, you will justify your education here and bring renown to your school I believe you will do it. Q 1 1 l 1 M r. .a 7 13 ': 'ff X THE SOPHOMORE CLASS Our educational career began at Liberty School in Sep- tember 1951. Our sojourn in grade school passed quite un- I 13 eventfully until our eighth year when we attained the lime- F light by winning the football queen contest over the High N School contestant. Our candidate, Eilene Chuculate, was r ,, y crowned queen at the Homecoming game. Our colorful eighth vs r grade graduation will always be remembered as the supreme if l achievement of our grade school career. When we walked a- cross the stage in May 1940 to receive our diplomas, our Q joy was complete. We entered high school in September of that year with Mrs. Horace Moore as our sponsor and Douglas Amos our president. Our new school building was in the process of construction that year, so we attended classes in various churches and public buildings. This year we became Sophomores, and have been kept busy trying to uphold the dignity of our new position. Miss , Stinnett and Mrs. Dickey are our sponsors, 'while Ray Gould Moore is our president. We are ably represented on the Student Council by Corbett Smith, who is Vice-President. We can boast of six football lettermen: Jerome Lewis, Eli Samuels, Harvey Young, William Smith, Ray Gould Moore, and iq Clifford Gritts. :-ref:--'Z-1--' a --2-Q-1-rss.-1--b Spf. - 'w'Qr:,a,graAf,:fgl:,. .
