Prophecy On a cold clear fall day in 1960 Professor S C Brown crawled out of bed shivered, combed his curly hair courtesy of the Rug Carpet Brush Broom and Wig Manfacturmg Company exclusively of Salix, Iowa threw on his clothes, swallowed a vitamin pill and rushed outside to his 1936 Chevy He pushed on the starter of the atom powered engine developed by the girls of the 1950 Physics class, and the engine roared to life much to Professor Brown s surprise ln the next instant wings shot forth and the prof found himself sailing skyward Once in the air Professor Brown began to enjoy the view Looking down he became aware of the beautiful brunette well supplied with freckles, sitting very close to a handsome man It davsmed upon Mr Brown that the beautiful brunette in the mink bathing suit was none other than the famous model Connie Fry At first Professor Brown did not recognize the man, but when he saw that they were arguing he immediately recognized Lawrence Miquelon who studied Architectural Engineering and now designs bathing suits for women Professor Brown was dreamily thinking of the success his former pupils had made when the engine sputtered and died As he prepared to bail out, two figures on an atomic motorcycle arrived with a huge sign reading LYLE AND DAVE AUTO SERVICE ANYTIME ANYWHERE' Professor Brown heaved a sigh of relief as the two set to work At last they were finished lt was only the valves they chorused, and with that they rode away Professor Brown press ed the starter and surprisingly the engine started As he again soared through the air he saw a column of rising smoke and heard the wail of a siren Looking down he saw a streak of red The fire engine screeched to a halt From behind the wheel jumped Keith Kelly in his asbestos zoot suit the fastest man with the hose Each week, Keith takes his scorched Presently a cloud of dust appears on the horizon As it approaches a fam ilar figure emerges It s the brave, undaunted, fearless Marvin Wagner At his heels at last can be perceived little Beverly Mercer A few hot words drift up to the old Professor Blondes dancing me at home five o clock The professor moves on and sadly shakes his head Poor Marvin he never will learn Professor Brown comes to the next two Seniors of 1950 Yes it is Mr and Mrs Ray Noble Ray is going to college and Nancy is living in their little trail er which is on the campus grounds They really do have a homey little dwelling, but what l ll never understand is how the six of them manage? ? ? 7 ? ? ? Soft strains of music drifted up to Mr Brown The voices seemed very familar Ah yes it s two members of the 1950 trio, Lorna and Delores The years haven t changed these two They still pass away most of their time smgmg lullabies that is while Ike and Darrel make hay while the sun shines As Mr Brown continued northward, he found himself in the midst of a flock of geese Suddenly they started dropping one by one Mr Brown looked down and just as he thought there stood Arlene Marshall her trusty shotgun at her side Evidently she hasn t forgotten those shooting lessons Don Hainfield used to give her Shooting always was her favorite passtime Now that she s shooting champion of the world she can make good use of it Mr Brown smiled dreamily thinking how contented his former pupils all seemed to be just then his atomic wrist watch exploded nme times He hastily landed and hurried into good old Salix High 15 ! .
