CLASS WILL We the Seniors of 1949 of the City of Sahx county of Woodbury State of Iowa being of sound and d1spos1ng mind and memory I hope hope hope and not acting under fraud duress menace or undue influence of any person whatso ever do make publish and declare this our last Will and Testament in the manner following that is to say We the class of 49 willingly will our row of seats to the Seniors of 50 and also our very worthy sponsor Mr Daniels Our ability to st1ck together goes to the Sophomores and to put everything off to the last rrunute to the Freshmen I Pat Mulvihill will my swiftness in basketball and also my small feet to Dave Jones this may all help you when you are up against a tough team My Sunday mornings goes to Lyle Van Auken Be Careful Take advice from someone who knows I Dick Mogensen will my ability to get out of work to Jack Taylor who does a pretty good Job of it himself and also my height which will come in pretty highway patrolmen My ability to get klcked out of basketball games goes to .Tack Copple I Jo Ann Dunn will my ability to eat my lunch before going to basketball practice to Margaret Miquelon and my office Job to Delores Luss1er I Mary Anne Schopp will my shortness to Maxine Putnam It sure comes in handy when reaching for the top shelves of the cupboards in Home Economics My dog Jo goes to anyone who wants it And my laugh to Connie Fry even though she doesn t need it I Stanley Lilly will my ability to tease to Keith Kelly and all my passengers to Chuck Txce My talent to tear down machines and always have one peice left over when I put it back together goes to Jerry Newhouse My Jeep to Ray Noble t may be useful at times Ray I Allena Mae Carroll will my ability to get A s to Doris Turkleson and my ability to be late for basketball practice goes to Berniece Cam I Betty Mogensen will all my arguxnents to Lorna Harrison My ability to shoot wild and long shots in basketball to Patsy Kelly I leave my temper to be divided between Hallie Carroll and Donna Dula be careful glrls temper temper 14 y ' . . . . CLASS HISTORY Of the 1949 graduatxng class only four of the present students Betty Mogensen Io Ann Dunn Dlck Mogensen and Pat MHlV1hl1l began thelr school career together way back 1n the year 1936 when Mxss Beula McClaran was our kmdergarten and flrst grade teacher Our other grade teachers were M1ss Orpha Bergh second and thlrd M1ss Gladys Page fourth and flfth Nlxss Mlldred Pottabaum s1xth Mlss Evelyn Blxven seventh and Mrs Lois Gardmer e1ghth Of our present Sen1or class Mary Anne Schopp Jomed us rn the th1rd grade Stanley L1lly 1n the fourth and Allena Mae Carroll 1n the s1xth New classmates Jomed us and old ones dropped untxl we entered our lugh school career xn 1945 w1th eleven students We entered Good Old Salxx H1 h just four short years ago and were broken 1n by an 1n1t1at1on where we were dressed ln outlandxsh costumes and carrxed band xnstruments At noon we paraded up town and back and ln the exemng we were honored by an 1n1t1at1on party g1ven by the sophomores Durxng th1s year we lost In September of the followlng fall we entered our Sophomore year w1th ten members and were prlvlleged to xnxtxate our lower classmates the Freshmen Durmg our Sophomore year we gamed two students Donald James and also Frances S1mons who later left us the same year Our J'un1or year was our most enjoyable year of our hlgh school career We added one member to our class roll Lavon Brotullette and lost one Edwm Eveleth We had two great events th1s year one was our very successful .Tumor Class Play entxtled D1amonds 1n wh1ch we all took part the other our Junnor and Sen1or Banquet held at Toney s Cafe ln Aprxl The theme of the banquet was The Last Roundup and our tables were decorated 1n green and bronze Follow 1ng our dlnner we had a short program and later we attended a movle at the Orpheum Theater Thxs closed our thxrd year xn hxgh school and we were proud to be Senxors the follow1ng fall At last we were Semors after twelve long awalted years We now have only seven members to fxll the last row of seats 1n the assembly We found that we had lost three members from our class roll Donald James who moved to Elk Poxnt South Dakota Betty Rodgers who after twelve years wlth us moved to Sloan and Lavon Brouzllette who was marr1ed ln September Now that our school years are growmg to a close we are grateful to Salmx I'-hgh for the most enjoyable years of our l1ves and we have learned to respect our school and school grounds through out our school career and are happy to be graduates of Sahx Hlgh of 1949 13 I D I I I I I . l - I D l .
