The years may be gone will last forever. May 24, 1986 Dear Seniors: Allow me to offer sincere congrat¬ ulations on your achievement. Your graduation places you among a most august group of alumni. Many of your predecessors are making significant contributions in law, medicine, education, service, business, the arts and humanities. It is heartwarming to know those numbers will now increase by your presence. Today ' s world of work is constantly changing. We are moving from an industrial to a more service-oriented society. Technological, social, and world community pressures demand innovative and creative resolutions for a myriad of problems. The bestowal of your degree reflects the faculty and administration ' s total confidence in your ability to share the mantle of responsibility for those solutions. Graduates of Salisbury State are highly regarded and sought after by employers, as well as graduate and professional schools. Organizations such as these will view you for what you are, the finest college graduates available virtually anywhere. Your only limitations in employment and advanced studies will come if you fail to recognize your own potentialities. While you may have attained some specific occupational training, it will be the quality education you received that stands as the hallmark of your Salisbury State experience. Today, our complex world society generates a continuous demand for skills upgrading, and ever-higher levels of critical and refined thought. Therefore, you can expect the educational direction you began here to become a lifetime pursuit. Again, I offer you congratulations and wish you peace, health, and happiness throughout your lives. Ave atque vale. Sincerely, James C. Lackie Director of Career Planning and Placement
