Three different styles of dramatic performance came together in one powerful production this semester as SSC theatre presented Three American Writers. Dr. Robert Wesley took on the challenge of directing and performing Mark Twain ' s monologue, The Blue Jay Yarn. The story involves a narrator and another speaker, jim Baker, which called for the single performer to change characters before the audience, a transformation cleverly worked out by Wesley. Perhaps the most unique of the three plays is Shepard ' s Black Bog Beast Bait. Set in a desolate present day bayou landscape, suspense is provided as a beast terrorizes the community. The play came alive with cast members Geoff Wright, Greg Bradley, Kristine Lococo, Tom Walsh, Carrie Vasko and Lori Beste. The final play, Tennessee Williams ' 27 Wagons Full of Cotton, had all the expected elements of one of his plays, including a southern setting and down to earth characters. The cast featured Tom Patt, Joanne Linchuk and Paul Lewis. 12

Tug-of-war has these girls straining with anticipation as they join in the Go Bananas ' Contest. The Annual SSC Talent Show as always uncovered many promising performances . . . and some not so promising, but entertaining all the same. 13
