MESSAGE TO GRADUATES The chief purpose of Salisbury State Col¬ lege is to give to each student who uses his opportunities the chance to become a “capa¬ ble and cultivated human being.” It is my hope that during the time you have spent in this College you have found a “setting” and “climate” conducive to effective learning and living. Education does not end with a degree or diploma. An attitude of learning developed during the four years in college must be car¬ ried into life after graduation. The demands of our rapidly changing society for knowl¬ edge, intellectual ability, and quality per¬ formance can never be satisfied by what can be compressed into four years of college work. Rather, education is coterminous with life itself. If you have had your appetite whetted for further learning and have achieved that mea¬ sure of self-discipline which leads to self- education, then you have received a head start toward a successful and satisfying life.
