Wbmwe W Division consists of four shops. First is the Special Aircraft Service Shop, or SASS shop. Next is the A.U.W. Shop, more commonly called the Torpedo Shop. Their job is to maintain the ship's Aerial Torpedos in a state of readiness. This may not sound like a very important job, but they are key men in antisubmarine warfare work, The Ship's Armory is third. This small shop has the security and upkeep of all the Ship's small arms as their responsibility. They are also custodians of all privately owned weapons, The Ship's landing force equipment and training also come under their jurisdiction, as does small arm checkouts for watch-standers and practical factors for advancement in rate. It is a small shop, but a man sized job is inside, Last, but by no means least, is the AO Shop. They are the work- horses of the division. All the Ship's magazines and ammunition are in their custody. They keep all the records and make all the reports. When required, they furnish aircraft with JATO, pyrotechnics, or whatever is needed in the line of ordnance material. To borrow the motto of the Coast Guard, those of the W Division believe that they can be called Semper Paratus - Always Ready. Y A ,'.,x 11 Y I U 6 U fvf ' 413' , ' ' ' .
