YOUNG, RFD ffl, Rayland, Ohio. lie enlisted inthe Navy in May of 19-lil and after receiving Boot Trainlng , started on the path to winning his Naw Wings of Gold. lie won wings and a commission as an Ensign in July, 1946. His first duty station was with Patrol Squadron Three, in the Panama Canal Zone. Later tours of duty included that of an instructor in the Naval Air Advanced Training Command, Attending Combat In- formation Center School, duty aboard USS SIBONEY, General Line School and duty with Aircraft Ferry Squadron Thirty One as a Ferry pilot. From August 1958 to July 1960, the Commander was with Patrol Squadron fi' Twenty Three. Following was a tour as NROTC Instructor at Northwestern Uni- versity. In August l962,CDR.Young attend- ed the Armed Forces StaffCollege,Norfolk, Va. Upon completion of this course in January 1963, he reported to Patrol Squad- ron Thirty One, San Diego, where he served as Operations and Executive Officer. Prior to reporting aboard USS SALIS- BURY SOUND, Commander YOUNG was commanding officer of Patrol Squadron Forty Two. He is married to the former Miss Bernadine O. Harbin, also of Rayland, Ohio. They, and their four children, Judy Ann, 17, Gale Austin, 15, Wayne Alan, 11, and David Arle, 9, reside in Navy Quarters aboard Whidbey Island Naval Air Station, Oak Harbor, Washuhorneport of the SALIS- BURY SOUND.
