The SHS football team came through again this year, Winning the WNCHSAA championship. With Mike Cansler backing a strong offensive effort, and Danny Winecoff leading the defense, the Hornets finished the regular season with a record of 9 wins and 2 losses. Although the offense was inexperienced they scored an impressive 163 points during the regular season. This year's championship was the second WNCHSAA championship in a row, making the Hornets the only team in 14 years to have back to back championships. 12 Hornets were selected to the all-county team. They were David Tennent, Vince Harris, Steve Hairston, Mike Cansler, Danny Winecoff, Cornelius Hart, Iames Wright, Erwin Soloman, David Gibson, Ronnie Wood, Leonard Atkins. and Tony Leach. Always striving to be No. 1, juniors often visited the library in order to improve their grades. Many members ofthe class of '76 spent a great deal oftime in extra-curricular activities. This year, juniors built a Homecoming float with the theme Train the Greyhounds . They sponsored the customary jr.-Sr. Prom and also contributed to all ofthe various school supported projects. li Y W 5 ' V - In -kgrz j P , ' . , ' ' ' 9- 53:1 1 Y - f 't Above right - 1974-75 junior Class officers are fleft to rightj: Chris Mc- Neely, vice-presidentg Nancy L on, treasurerg Matt Trexler, presicfentg and Lizzy Tennentg secretary. We chose the theme Welcome to Our World because we feel that this phase in life is our own unique world. Only we, as participants in this world, have experi- enced the good and the bad moments which revolved around SHS. We wish to thank the many people whose combined aid made the '75 ECHO a reality: Mr. Iohn Norton, Mr. lack -Turne Mr. Fred Evans Y- . Although she would not admit it, a very special person deserves the most thanks. To our small but mighty fortress, Mrs. Mary Garrison, we dedicate our efforts on the 1975 ECHO. Qs 736 .ff ,- ,Xxx To our hard-working staff: We know that Welcome to Our World has an addi- tional meaning to you because part of it took place in a tiny Romper Room on the second floor 6th period. Even thou h we had our little proqnlems once in a while fnever with dead- lines!l, we feel that the 55th edition of the ECHO is not only the best ever, but also has a Fart of each and every one 0 you within its bind- ings. You should be roud of this history book because it was your ideas, weekends, and total effort that produced the '75 ECHO. Look back in years to come and remember, Hey, I did that, I wrote it, picked out and cropped those pioturesg this is my page . . . And when you do read through this ECHO, remember the two slave- drivers who, hopefully, weren't as bad as all that. We'll certainly remember you!
