About Our Principal Mr. Randolph Brooks, a native of Fruitland, Maryland, proudly proclaims his hometown and its citizens as a source of inspiration during his career as a teacher and principal. His enriched and continuous educational background has adequately prepared him to fulfill his position as a school administrator, and has intelligently enabled him to keep abreast with current educational trends. After graduating from Salisbury High School, he continued his education at Princess Anne Academy, now Maryland State College, Bowie State Normal School and Morgan State College, where he received his Bachelor of Science degree. After obtaining his Master of Science degree from the University of Pennsylvania, he pur- sued further graduate work at the University of Delaware, Temple University and Tuskegee In- stitute. Mr. Brooks also earned an advanced Certificate from the Washington Conservatory of Music and Expression. Our new principal brings 24 year's experience in education to Salisbury High School. His first teaching experience was in Worcester County at the Stockton Elementary School. In 1937 he came to Wicomico County to serve as principal of the Sharptown Elementary School and moved from there in 1939 to the Salisbury Elementary and High School. There he assisted Mr. C. H. Chipman, his predecessor, with the elementary school. Prior to his appointment to Salis- bury High School in June 1961, Mr. Brooks had been principal at the Salisbury Elementary School since 1953. Mr. Brooks spends his leisure hours participating in family, church and community activi- ties. During the school week he lives with his mother, Mrs. John E. Brooks, of Fruitland. On weekends he goes to his home in Bellevue, Maryland, to be with his wife, who is principal of the White Marsh Elementary School. Mr. and Mrs. Brooks worship at the St. Luke's Methodist Church in Bellevue. He is associated with many civic and educational organizations on local, state, and nation- al levels. He willingly endorses and supports any projects which are beneficial to the commu- nity. Music is Mr. Brooks main hobby, although he has written more than fifty poems, one of which was published in the New York World's Fair Anthology of Poetry. Salisbury High is fortunate in having Mr. Randolph Brooks as its principal, for he is richly endowed in mind and spirit and is anxious to pour out his life to enrich the lives of others. As a great educator and leader he proudly accepts what was already here as a heritage -a foundation on which to build greater things.

Che Principal's Message ee eens See You, the class of '62, have the good fortune and honor of having completed your high school education. For this I wish to congratulate each of you. One great gift of education is that it gives you the ambition to dream, to ana- lyze, to plan, and to work for a better and happier life. Now the most fascinating subject of your thoughts is the future. May your future be as bright as you deserve and may you become good, worthwhile citizens, always being a beacon light for your school. Whatever problems you may face, whatever difficulties you may encounter, al- ways have faith in yourselves and God. May you remain true to your ideals and your home, and may your endeavors and achievements lead to making the world a better place in which to live. Randolph L. Brooks
