It is with this thought in mind that seniors of Salisbury High review the events of their joyous life spent from 1948-1953. As we look back over the calendar of events, our hearts fill with a great pride in know- ing that our class has played its part well on the stage of action at Salisbury High School. It seems that only yesterday we were young, inexperienced eighth graders excitedly presenting our first assembly program. After this venture, we felt duly initiated into the high school activities. Our life began to take shape with representation at the Maryland State Teachers’ College annual Youth conference in 1949. As time passed, membership in the dramatic club was swelled with a host of players from our class. Not only did some excel in dramatics, but from our ranks emerged many promising stars in athletics. At the same time others found their places in the glee club and on the patrol force, Singular honors have been conferred on individuals of our class. A silver cup was award- ed to Marva Hull for writing the best essay on What I Want To Be for a contest spon- sored by the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority at Maryland State College in 1952. The following year we saw Frances Parsons and John Simpson elected presidents of the New Homemakers of America and the New Farmers of America respectively. Looking back over the calendar of events, no greater joy fills our hearts that that of thinking of the contest to decide who would be crowned Miss Salisbury High School. The whole school waited with anticipation until the announcement was made that Edith Turner was the winner. Runners up in the contest were Frances Parsons, Phyllis Handy, Juanita Hull, Ruth Buford and Dorothy Wood. So after four years, we, the senior class of 1953, bid farewell to the faculty and the student body of Salisbury High School as we watch the curtain slowly descend on our memorable high school days.
