The strangeness of the school and students quickly disappeared with the aid of helpful teachers and the making of new friends, With new friends, new surroundings, and new teachers, we settled down to work and to the sharing of experiences to which we now refer as our class History. Then came our second year in high school. The teachers rules, and re- quirements had become a part of us and we were proud to be students of this school. Since we were in the ninth grade, we become eligible to partici- pate in all activities. Many times members of our class excelled other students in the extra curricular activities. As time passed and our keen minds began to develop more fully, we be- gan our third year with an understanding and appreciation for better methods of learning. Our class continued to do well in their studies and activities. During this year we had many representatives of our class on the varsity team and in other outstanding clubs. Our fourth year found us proud Juniors with a desire to become effective student citizens. We organized into one large class. During this year, our curriculum was changed slightly with the addition of activity chibs. In these clubs we found new interests and many opportunities for developing our hobbies. Much hidden talent was brought out by these special clubs. It was with deep regret that we faced our last year in school. We found it difficult to be dignified seniors after being carefree for four years. Never before had we realized how much S. H. S. meant to as or the place it had claimed in our hearts. We realized, however, that all good things must come to an end, so it was with this feeling that we looked forward to graduation. Our class history is probably like that of any other class, but we feel that the impn ■ -.! . n Salisbury High has made on us will make us forever de- voted to her. It is with this purpose in mind that we record this book of fond memories of our past high school life. With deepest sincerity, we hope that we. the class of ' 51, will inspire others to higher heights. Dear Salisbury High, When first we saw we loved you. Our Hearts were warm, although our friends were few. But as we found our footsteps wandering idly, C ' Kjp We came to know — to you we would be true. Your guiding love and constant understanding, Our dreads and fears to you became so few ; And all because we love you dear old Salisbury High. We pledge ourselves and all our faith to e ' re be true. V II. Dear Salisbury High, You know how much we ' ll miss you. Engraved upon our hearts you ' ll always be. This means that we will always cherish and adore. How well will we remember those old days! The teachers-young, warm, kind, good, and loving. We truly love them, and forever will. They brought us knowledge, truth and understanding. Oh Salisbury High, we know that you will linger still. III. Dear Salisbury High, Our motto true will linger. We ' ll lift to higher heights, upward we ' ll climb, And there we ' ll find our hopes and dreams before us, T ' will be our task to be fore ' re sublime. Our flower— the rose, with red of glowing beauty, Our colors — white and blue — mean we ' ll be true; And all because we love you dear old Salisbury High We ' ll give our best to you, that you will linger true f 0U?? Hull Homeroom Teacher The Junior class hr.s lieen very active in the entire school program dur- ing the school year in preparation for taking over the leaderships for the next year. They have participated widely in the athletic program consisting of basketball, fieldball. cross country and touch football, and even captured a few individual honors. Other members have been very active in the Glee Club, Band and dramatics. In celebration of George Washington ' s birthday, the Dramatic Club gave a play entitled, Let George Do It , with the majority of the cast from the Junior class. The class is currently planning an elaborate Junior-Senior Prom for the Seniors. The sentiment of the Juniors for the Seniors can be expressed in the following lines: May your counsels be wise, and your commerce increase And may you ever experience the blessings of peace . THE JUNIOR CLASS 11 B Mr. William H. Owens Homeroom Teacher 1C Miss Flora M. Hairston Homeroom Teacher 10 A Class Miss Faith B. Conway Homeroom Teacher The tenth grade class of 1950-51 looks with pride at its participation in the affairs of Salisbury High School. Some of the members of the class have been selected to play on the girls ' and boys ' varsity teams in fieldball, touch football, and basketball. Others have boosted the morale of the teams through participation on the cheer leading squad. Even some have stepped lightly to the beat of the drum as majorettes under the whistle of a tenth grade captain. The leadership ability of the class can be attested by glancing at the roster of officers of clubs — president of the Arts and Crafts Club; vice- presidents of the Dramatic Club; the N. H. A.; secretaries of the Commer- cial Club the Hobby Club, the Oratorical Club, and Debating Club and the Glee Club. Certainly the tenth grade has reason enough to look with pride at its present record of participation and to look forward with anticipation to a fuller record in the coming year. 10 Miss Cleo Walston Homeroom Teacher 10 c Mr. William F. Waller Homeroom Teacher .• i Miss Valeri B. HOTTON Homeroom Teacher Since the beginning of our high school experience, we have recogn- ized the value of participation as a means by which we might become ef- fective student citizens. We realize this objective a s we glance at the rosters of all of the outstanding activities promoted by the school. We are proud to have among our ranks, the stars of the athletic club who are participants in basketball touch football, soccer, Softball, track and fieldball; as well as members of the Glee Club, Dramatic Club, and Science and Photography Chib. We are looking forward to many more years of happy school exper- iences, and we wish for the class of 1950-. r yl many years to come that will afford the development of their strength of mind through worthwhile exercise. 9B Mr. Thomas C.
