imLHt m msTOfvr Few know the great happiness we felt as we entered into oiir freshman year of high school. Our faces were all aglow and our little hearts eager to be accepted by our upper classmates. Most of us were separated from our old grammar school friends, but we soon found new friends among the students who came from other com- munities to begin their high school career here at Salisbury. The first months we were very busy getting adjusted to our new surroundings. With the assistance of our teachers we soon followed instructions as designated. Because of the enthusiasm of the children, and the persistance of the teachers, the wrinkles of unfamiliarity with the school were soon smoothed out. Then came the ninth grade. That year opened to us a better understanding of the policies and requirements of our school. We became better acquainted with our friends and instructors who helped to strengthen our aptitudes and capacities through cooperation, patience and untiring efforts. We then began to participate in extra curricular activities. During that time we became organized as one big class in order to do more effective work. We took great pride in serving for the Junior ' s at their Jr. Sr. Prom, realizing that the experience would prove very valuable to us the next year. After attending dear old Salisbury High for two years, we thoroughly understood the rules and regulations of the school. Even though that year was filled with more difficult studies, it was indeed more pleasant than the two previous years, and the pleasures we found surpassed any obstacles we encountered. The event to which we looked with the greatest expectation was the Junior -Senior Prom at which we were the hosts. It was indeed a great success and will always be remembered and cherished in our hearts. Then came another perfectly thrilling year, another great year for us, 1948 and 49. Our class presented and worked in several successful activities. We gave a play titled Spring Fever which was a very favorable accomplishment. Our class was highly represented on the basketball teams and all of them received new uniforms purchased by our school. Before the school year ended, we had been so greatly inspired and benefited that we felt very grateful to our superiors for their patience, understanding and helpfulness. The year ' 49- ' 50 soon rolled around and we were in school eager to grasp the new ideas afforded by a new year. During this year our activities varied as there had been added to the curriculum many new and different clubs. Each person had the opportimity to choose a club of his own desire. We were busy during the first half of the semester preparing and assembling Salisbury ' s first year book. And so for future reference, we have recorded the story of our years ' 49- ' 50 our achievements, activities, our life. This book will stand as an emblem of our past high school liie. The past generations have served as an inspiration for our advancements. We sincerely hope that we, the members of class 1950 , will be an inspiration to the future generations. The memory of the days spent here will linger with us continually.
