The advertising campaign burst forth with posters, salesman, ballyhoo, and ads in Flashlight. The student body was entertained by an unusual, clever assembly which presented several of the selected con- tributions in the form of monologues and dramatizations. Among these were The Walking Dream , by Jenny Panzierag a tragedy, Blackout , by James Armstrong: a satire, Bridge for Women , by Richard DeMattosg A Quiet Evening at Homev, by Betty Merrill, and l'Soft Shoulders , by Dick Lemon. With attractive covers of blue and silver, and silk-screened title-pages throughout, the Bririgc' was distributed in May. For the second year bridge buyers had an opportun- ity to vote for the best selection in the book. These lucky winners were awarded medals for their prize-winning contributions. One group of girls, in keeping with the victory spirit, received practical instruction in first aid . . . another group assisted the P.E. Department by serving as officials for after school games.
