L. T The Lion WhosW0ul+d3n'tp Salina Central's production of The Lion Who Wouldn't was presented by thetPreform- ing Arts Department on No- vember' 21-22' in the Central Auditorium. The play, a musical made especially for children was written by AWingate and Freidman. The .story of the play begins in mid-morning on the opening day of the circus, just .outside the circus tent. It in- volves an overly-ambitious and unsatisfied lion. The lion re- fuses .to renew his contractwith the travelingycircus, feeling he should do something that would better reveal 'his manyel i hidden talents. The lion' tries several different occupations inclsudihgc af baseball player, a teacher, Hsea captain, .and a de- ssl .tective and ffilm star. Heiis suc- cessful. in each until he meets up with a banana, this symbol of defeatj. Finally realizing that his best talent lies -in being a circus lion, he returns to the 'circus to become the world's' best circus lion. The leading 'role -f that of the. lion - was playedby Clay Davis and the attendant was played by Lee Williams.
