Putting in a lot of singing appearances this year was the sophomore sextette composed of Linda Stark, Pat Riker, Gwen Engstrom, Donna Norris, Pat Means, and Cherie Clark. These talented girls should add much to the vocal department in the next two years. Mr. Paul Ryberg is their instructor. 'X rg During a football game, one can see gay streamers flying from Salina's goal posts and also from the opposition's goal posts. jim Van Duyne and Darwin johnson decorated the goal posts after school one day for the game that night. In the fall the sophomore class holds a get- acquainted party for all its members. Com- mittees work hard to organize the party and have enjoyable recreation and refreshments. Everyone has great fun at the party, espec- ially when it's time to gather for pepsies and doughnuts. An event that is anticipated with much ex- citement during the holiday season is the Cherokee Christmas formal. Linda Stark, jerry Kinsey, Cherie Clark, and jerry Matthews gather before the silver Christmas tree to chat. fa-

Wherever one goes practically, if there is music and a group of teenagers, one will see couples dancing. jitterbugging and the 'Chicken' seem to be the craze. Eddie Lewis, Jane Sanderson, junior Petty, and Carol Fitzhugh demonstrate the iitterbug for some of their friends. In the physical education classes, the sophomores learn skills in various sports, exercises, and dances. joan Block and Carolyn Strange play a game of basketball in the gym. 'U' Accompanists are an essential in the vocal music department. Mr. Paul Ryberg, vocal instructor, has found just the thing in the form of Pat Means and Linda Stark. These girls accompany vocal groups and soloists. Moving in shifts, each class has twenty minutes to consume its share of the food from the cafeteria during the lunch hour. There are many varieties of food, and the are purchased at a low cost. Chifi burgers and sand- wiches are just a sample of the various things jerry Merker, Lewis Bates, and Pat Ansley can buy.
