ADNIINI TR T10 Responsibility for the activities of the school and the approval of new policies is part of the job of our prin- cipal, Mr. Owen E. Hodgson. Untangling snarls and red tape are part of his school day. Making sure than Joe K. Student makes it through High School is a prime function. The graduates of Salina High will always remember his willingness to help them with their problems involving their future. He is very active in civic and educational circles, and though his leisure moments are few he is always present for Salina High activities and events. The problems that go with school and its activi- ties is a big job for the Dean of Girls, Miss Dorothy Andrews. Her day is crowded with sponsoring the Usherettes, the Y-Teen club, and teaching two hours of American History. Even though her schedule is always full she finds time to give friendly advice and sug- gestions to all. Without the students, high school would have no reason to exist. This year, as more than 1,000 students flocked to Salina High, the enrollment reached its highest peak in history. W. E. Simpson, the assistant principal, has a big part in helping to guide students through three years of high school. Mr. Simpson looks after attendance for boys, helps supervise the cafeteria, teaches lab tech, and seminar, and sponsors the monitors. .-7..

Mr. Waring is also active in many civic and church ac- tivities as well as P.T.A. and educational programs. -6- 0 TE BERG HEADS Mr. W. M. Ostenberg, Superintendent of Salina schools, has made great progress toward expanding the Salina schools. Buildings, increased enrollments, and special problems have needed his judgment and guidance. Although his normal day is crowded, he has time for hearing suggestions for improving school plans or conditions. He takes a very active part in civic affairs. He is a past President of the Salina Chamber of Commerce and,in 1956 was chairman for Com- munity Chest campaign. His favorite sport is golf, but he never misses a Salina High athletic contest.
