.S l High Schools QI' To Washington, my Alma Mater, Do I pledge this bit of verse, Ever mindful of her memory Now for better or for worse. As I stand beside the waters Of a far and distant sea, I recall my high school teachers. Kindly may they think of me. Ever wondering if the building I-Ias survived the years gone by, Pondering on these thoughts of schooldays, For dear old Washington I sigh. May I wander to those doorways, Back again to sceres of yore, Hear the bells sound through the hallways, Where my classmates pass no more. ..l...ig-- QPWCIP S Lone, and weary, do I stand there Deafened by the rush and noise Did we also clamor loudly? Such a mass of girls and boys! How they rush from hall to classroom Shouting greetings to and frol I-Iow quiescent when the teacher Tells them what they all should ki.owl Do they learn it? Well, I wonder - Did we learn a French translation? Did we know who fired on Sumter? .. How to mix a physics ratfo ? They'll remember it eventually. Be discouraged? Don't despair! Really, Iill come back some day and Maybe, I will see YOU there! - A Senior
