IO lxiineleen Tliiwlq-Dix Trail WASHINGTCN STUDENT GEEICEIQS High school officers are student leaders chosen by the students themselves in the annual school election in October. Petitions determine the quali- fied candidates and electioneering and assembly speeches give reality to high school politics, but on election day the students malce their choice. President of the student council at Washington this year was Robert Sullivan, a senior ,who presided at student programs and at special assemblies. He was the promoter of Maroon Day, an all day rally with a lively pep parade down Sante Fe, which helped to brace the team for the Thanksgiving game. Senior class officers have had no great problem this year other than that of selectin and financing a fitting memorial for the halls ofgwashington to assure future high school students that the class of 1936 passed this way on its educational trelc. Junior officers assumed the usual social responr sibility of entertaining the seniorsg consequently much of their energy and their talent was devoted to money- makin schemes, collecting class assessments, plan- ning ciecorations, and choosing eats for the Junior- Senior banquet of May 8. Salina I-liqi1 Schools I II IQOOSEVELT STU DENT OEEICEIQS Lincoln Student Council this year with Grover Cobb as president sponsored a number of building projects. The Christmas decoration of Lincoln class- rooms with its contest feature and the School-Pro' gress assembly program were two of their successful undertakings. They served as ushers at the regular P T. A. meetings. Sophmore and freshman class officers, besides carrying out their duties as class officials, had a part with the faculty committee in planning their respec- tive weelcly assembly programs. One of the class of- ficers also presided at such assemblies and represent- ed the class in this part of the program. Roosevelt Student Council was a representive junior hi h school group with Robert Garrison of the eightfi grade, president. The February hobby exhibit, spring declamation and music contests were major projects of the Roosevelt council. It also car- ried on the corridor poster publicity for scholarship and school spirit and sponsored and assisted the traf- fic committee in directing and limiting Roosevelt corridor speed during the rash hours of school. Class officers cooperated with the student coun- cil and the faculty sponsors to make Roosevelt a successful unit in the tri-building high school group.
