Student Councll ith Jerry Berry headlng the student councll, James Sheehan as Vice Presldent, and 0 kim, pat Frayser serving as Secretary Treasurer, the student counc1l r'::T had a very successful year The 1n1tial project of the year was the sale of activ1ty tlckets and the changing of the football program The football programs were larger than pT6V1OUS ones w1th illustrated covers Many compliments were received on them This commlttee was headed by Carroll Keifert A new system was tr1ed wlth the auditorlum t1cket A booklet containing ten tickets was sold In the event that there were more than ten assemblies or the booklet was lost, the regular adm1ss1on had to be pald At the annual conventlon of the state student counclls held in Fort Collins on December 5 and 6 132559 James Sheehan preslded as state presxdent The other mem bers representing the Salida student councll were Jerry Berry, Pat Frayser and Bill Campbell The rad1o pro gram These Kids of Ours' was broadcast from the student ballroom in Fort Collins by remote control through KGA ln Denver James Sheehan was named 'Champ of the Weekn on thls program The student councll helped the Pep club with the Homecoming festivities by buying the corsages for the Queen and her attendants, and by giving the prlzes for the floats in the parade Tne maln project of the year for the student COUHC1l was initiatlng the mer1t system The merlt system was the result of many hours work by both the student councll and the faculty The purpose of the mer1t system was to better tne school by encouraglng the students to do better class work, and to give tH9m merits for work done ln extra activ1ties James Sheehan headed the com11ttee Through the cooperatlon of the student COUHC1l, the Sallda Elks were aga1n able to sponsor dances every month for the students when the Chrlstmas season arrlved, the halls in the high school were decorated.
