Sllllfelll l,'0lll16'il ELECTED T0 EovEnN The Student Council, a connecting link between the faculty and the students, ulti- mately tries to make students conscious of the need for practical citizenship. The idea of democracy is practiced when each mem- ber becomes eligible for membership after a recommendation from their class Prefect. He is then elected and approved according to standard procedure. The chief aims ot the Council are: to appease both the students and the admin- istration, to encourage more participation Members of the Student Representative Government are: Neal Kelly, Francis Sarto, Father Lemon, Pre- tect, Paul Catinella and Iohn McGonigle. Second in school activities, thereby promctina school spirit, and to encourage democratic citizenf ship. The Council tries to be successful in secur- ing student interest by glamorizing their proaram, tor anythina, receiving enough publicity, immediately aroiises interest. Student Council membership is a two-Way job: to represent the best student interest to the administration and to interpret the best interests of the school, as a whole, to the students.
