STEVE VEGA-A SALESIAN ATHLETE AND A MAN On November 6, 1970, Steve Vega broke two vertebrae in his neck while making a tackle of a Notre Dame player. Although he was in pain, he jumped up, ready to ploy again. Even after Steve was taken out of the game, he wanted to return to play with his team. He sat on the bench for half of the fourth quarter, crying. He cried not out of shame, but because he could not help his team anymore that night. Steve has been helping Salesian for four years now. He is a dedicated person who even now, in his hospital bed, wants to be with his team against Cathedral. We know Steve, although not physically, will be there Friday night against Cathedral. I m
