Robert Gatchell Launoelot, a mild-mannered, hen-pecked little man in the midst of his campaign for Congress under the auspices of the Good Government, and his wife, Aspasia, who is writing without words or music, have three children. Aay is ahealth fanatic. Bee paints pictures--modern ones, of course-- which no one can understand, includingherself. And she's engaged to Dick Charles, one of the most promising students at the College of Embalming. And See--well, See can best be described as one of the most thorough-going little brats in recent dramatic literature. And we mustn't forget Grandma Dimity, who spends her life clipping coupons and entering radio contests. The Plot centers in the machinations ofJonathanQ. Pypuss, an energetic book agent who sells the Beldinkers on easyf ! Q payments a thirty-seven volume encyclopedia . These easy payments are the downfall of the Beldinkers, resulting finally in the loss of their furniture and dispossession from their home. HSEVENTEEN IS AWFULLY YOUNG Mother . . Jan Eliot , . Roy Laudenslager . . . . Earl Weaver . . Marilyn Byrd . . . Wilbie Rowe This is the story of the Eliot sisters: Jan, the favored pampered darling, and Nicki, the mouse. The Eliots have just moved to the small town of Riverville and Jan is in revolt. At Ross- town High she'd been chosen most attractive girlof the year, so enrolling in a school with a student body of three htmdred was quite alet-down--that is, until she saw Jack Westmore. Nicki saw him, too, and ran into her little corner and began to daydream, as usual, about a fairy godmother who would change her into a glamour grl overnight--and one did, only she wasn't a fairy godmother. She was, of all things, a school teacher, a Miss Tilby, who had an amazing gift for cataloging people and putting them exactly where they belonged. She gave Nicki a page out of her book entitled, How To Get A Boy Friend. The only trouble was it worked too well. She got three of them and getting rid of them was something even Miss Tilby couldn't do.
