Interesting Points Of Reserve Games, 1947-48 The Reserves defeated Wharton in the finals of the County tournament 41 to 32. This gave Salem .the Championship for the 4th year straight. Salcm's Reserves are now undefeated in 64 games. The 14 players in the squad were used in most of the ball games. Sweigafd had a 10 point average per game, Don Orians had better than 7 poin's average. Stief had about a 6 point average, while Ralph, Leo, and Cletus had a 4 point average per game. Ralph, Jim and Leo, however, just played Vs of the time, Dick Shumakcr and Dick Gottfried .took care of the defense with the help of Dave Gottfried and Dick Schmidt. The Reserve scored 985 points this season for an average of 47 points per game. While the opponents had 338 points with an average of 16 points per game.
