My first stop was at San Francisco where I visited the former Evelene Moses. She is married now and together, she and her husband operate one of the largest restaurants in the United States. From here I fiew to Chicago where the World Series was being played. As I am a great baseball fan I went to one of the games. Imagine my surprise when I saw that the manager of one of the teams was none other than Joe Logsdon. Needless to say, Joe's team won, as it always does. In another section of Chicago I visited Winifred Davidson, who is at the head of the largest orphanage in the world. She had some experience in caring for children at home and she certainly has made good use of it. My next stop was Detroit where I visited Bill Schmidt. Bill is the owner and the president of the much enlarged Schmidt Machine Company, which now covers thirty acres of land. Bill told me that he and his father have a patent on Fluid Drive Powered Motors and that they will have to enlarge the factory because of the great number of orders for these motors. From Detroit I traveled to New York City to attend a famous concert. I thought the star singer look familiar, but as I was in the rear section of the audience I wasn't sure. Only when she sang the High C was I sure of her identity. It was our own Mary Ellen Schmidt. This is quite an honor for Salem as well as for her. I was very happy to arrive back in good ol' Salem several days later. Every- thing had changed since 1948, but it was still Salem. Gaylord Trautman is quite a successful farmer in this section of the country. He has a Very modern dairy farm, which covers 600 acres of land. This farm is known the world over for its famous products.

I should like to have spent my summer here, but as I had five more of my former classmates to visit and most of my vacation already spent, I had to go on. Before I left Salem, I had the pleasure of attending the opening of the new stage hit Salem Memories, starring the one and only Jeanette Schmidt. She is a very successful young star and she told me that she has had offers from almost every producer in the United States. I wonder, could some of her talent have come from her coachin.g and advice received at Salem? I visited Bill Weaver next. Bill has also gone on the stage since his school days. He is the most famous comedy star in the history of stage and screen. Bill always did furnish plenty of comedy wherever he was. I found Joan Weaver in the Salem Memorial Hospital, which is located on the outskirts of Salem City. Joan is the sole benefactress of the hospital as well as being the head surgeon there. She has become quite well known for her .ability to help people get well. I turned westward again as my next stop was Dallas, Texas, where I visited Reva Orians. Reva owns -the famed SHS Ranch, which covers 8,000 acres. This ranch is one of the largest producers of beef in the United States. My journey was drawing to a close with only one more classmate to visit, last, but certainly not least, the renowned Leo Swartz who is working with the atomic bomb commission at Santa Fe, New Mexico. He has invented a weapon even more powerful than the atomic bomb. 1 I was very happy to have been able to visit all of these former classmates, but since my vacation was nearly over, my one thought was that of returning to my Hollywood home.
