RODERICK - ASSISTA T PROFESSOR S... ko The 1980 Yearbook is dedicated to Ms. Patricia Roderick of the Social Service Department for her dedication and model to the students at Salem State. Ms. Roderick has been at Salem State since September of 1972 and served as the first Department Chairperson of Social Service. She was a prime contributor on getting the academic program towards accreditation by the Council on Social Work Education this past December. This accreditation will make it easier for Social Service graduates to acquire State Social Work Licenses and advance study in graduate school. Her involvement with students in extensive. Not only does she serve as ad-hoc advisor to the Student Active Resource Team, she has been a consultant to many students from the Community Research Methods Course as well as a strong advocate for students and their involvement in all aspects of their education. Ms. Roderick devotes a great deal of her personal time to community groups such as the Social Advocates for Youth, and Big BrotherfBig Sister Association of the North Shore, a group she helped to found. This past year Ms. Roderick was a recipient of the Distuinguished Service A ward, an award granted to outstanding members of the State College Faculty by the Board of Trustees. We at the Clipper feel it a great honor to dedicate this book to Ms. Patricia Roderick.
