On June 9, 1963, a class of over two hundred and forty seniors will be graduated from Salem State College, a modern educational institution with an enrollment of over fourteen hundred and with an ever expanding campus, located at the junction of Lafayette Street and Loring Avenue. Obviously, much growth and development have taken place during the one hundred and nine years of the school's existence. What is perhaps not so obvious, however, is the fact that in 1959 we were the first entering class privileged to make use of a new library, auditorium, cafeteria, gymnasium, and administrative ofhces. Progress is inevitable at Salem State College. We are now witnesses to the 1'110St recent phase of this progress, the new Arts, Science, and Business Educa- tion building, now under construction next to the auditorium on Lafayette Street. Appreciating this spirit of constant progress and improvement, we hope that our own professional growth and intellectual development will parallel that of our Alma Mater. This is the greatest tribute that we could pay to her. With this thought in mind, the CLIPPER STAFF hope sincerely that this 1963 edition will be the stimulus for many pleasant recollections in the days to come. ROBERT BOYD, Editor-in-Cloicf
