We had our f1rst experrence 1n actrng as we presented the Chrrstmas Play Retndeer on the Rooftop Naomr Lent Frances Becker and Martha Carpenter were reserve cheerleaders Bette Dav1s started her lst year as a matorette 1n the band Several of the grrls Jorned the F H A Most of the class took part 1n Band Glee Club Musrc Festrval and was on the track team for Freld Day 10th GRADE As we entered our Sophomore year we got a new student from Columbus Bonnle Rremenschnelder We ost Wanda Grrffm Marty Prrce Robert Burkhart and durrng the year B1lly Grosz left us Our offrcers were Dorothy Ullmann Presrdent B1ll Grosz V1ce Presldent Bette Dav1s Secretary Treasurer Llnda Seevers News Reporter Mrs Brown Sponsor Thrs year we started a program to burld a class treasury lookrng forward to our Sen1or Trrp We had ch1l1 sales and bake goods once a month We took part rn the carn1val by havrng a zoo We had a parrot monkey and several other pets Mrs Brown belng our sponsor kept us gorng and always made sure we made money Bette Dav1s was majorette agarn thrs year She was also crowned Queen of the Hrgh School at the carnlval No one from our class was cheerleader thrs year Gwen Morgenstern won the conservatron test llth GRADE We lost several students rn our Junlor year Martha Carpenter Wrlma Hrlverdtng and Davrd Armstrong We garned one Donald Morgenstern Durrng the year Naomr Lent Delbert Stover Dan Buchanan Donald Morgen stern Davrd Buchanan left us Our offrcers were Dorothy Ullmann Presrdent Jackie Smlth Vrce Presxdent Lrnda Seevers Secretary Treasurer Gwen Morgenstern News Reporter Mrs Brown Sponsor Mrs Brown qu1t the frrst semester and Mrss McCauley took her place We had an rce cream SOC131 the nrght of the Semor Class Play We st1ll sold chllr and baked goods at noon We presented our Iunror Class Play Aaron Slrck from Punkrn Creek lt turned out very well We also had a radro show Bobby Kerns and hrs outfrt We had a Varrety Show whrch was a new actrvrty at Salem We put the school paper out for one month that year Bette Dav1s and Jackle Smrth were varsrty cheerleaders from our class Bette was also a majorette Frances Becker recerved her State Homemaker Degree rn F H A We were lookrng forward to the Junror Semor Banquet We had rt rn the Betsy Mrlls Drnrng Room After everyone was through eatrng we had a prom at the Marletta Armory Hall Thrs was qurte a ntght for us Several of the grrls were usherettes for the Baccalaureate and Commencement exercrses One half page sponsored by HUFFMAN S CAFE Warner Ohro . . , . . ,, . ,, . 1 1 . . . . . . , f . . . 1 r r , . . . . , . . , , . . .
