T H E O R A C L E Freshman History O O O N September the eleventh, l922, a class of one hundred and twenty- W' Mage, , .ffglglgyd three Freshmen entered Salem High School. These came from all over the county as well as from the town of Salem. is Jbggfll We were soon divided alphabetically, so that one's name decided his abiding place for the year, some going to Mr. Cool, others to Miss Prillaman, and still others to Mrs. Seaton. When we were just beginning to be at ease in our new homes, we were initiated into the mysteries of Latin and Algebra, and we met so many strangers in the beginning of our short stay here, that we lived almost in a new world. Not until the last of November did we feel settled enough to organize our class. We elected Clayton Cross as President, and we have been working more as auunit ever since. We have not had a chance to find out how much or how little we might be able to do with a Lyceum, but we hope our day is coming. Freshmen do not generally have anything more than high aspirations and hard practice in athletics, but we can boast already of next year's football Cap- tam. Mid-year Exams. did not give us a great deal to record as to Freshman glory, since there were many failures-, but a bad beginning makes a good ending, 'so we look for brighter days to come. We hope that every member will return 'next year and that our Class roll may number one hundred on that night in june, l926, for which we are already planning. -I-lisToR1AN. 5551

The Sophomores won't look at us, ln nineteen twenty-six The Juniors glance the other way, We'll prove to Salem Town But the Seniors hope and cheer for us That our motto was well taken And help us day by day.
