E O R A Junior Class Poem o o o Sing a song of school days, joyous days and free. We don't have to worry, Care-free Juniors, wel But you wait till next year, Seniors we shall he: We shall kill ourselves with work, Care and dignity. Black and white our colors, Proudly We acclaim, We live to serve our motto, We'll act up to our name. Even now we're pretty good, l..east, thatls what we say. When it comes to playing ball We work both night and day. In all the other joys OJ of school We try to talce our part- Assemhly, Lyceum, all the rest That gladden pupils' hearts. And so we live for '24, What will our school do then? We'll leave our High School for the world, No longer boys, but men. -POET C441 C L E

JUNIOR CLASS

Page 49 text:

K' ix A ' fhsjgii THE ORACLIE Junior Class History O O 0 N the thirteenth day of September, l920, Salem High School gg! opened its portals to us, the largest class of Freshmen it had ever A 1 A enrolled. As our Class was such a large one, it was divided into three parts. Because of the great number, we were compelled to hold a separate Lyceum from the upper classes. Near the close of this, our first year, the school held a joint Lyceum in which there was a mock wedding. For this wedding a Junior was selected to be the groom and a Freshman to be the bride. As Sophomores, we numbered one hundred and six. Again that year we were divided into three sections, but that did not hinder our class spirit. We ranked one hundred percent. in Red Cross work, and in everything else that we undertook. In the spring of l922 we gave the Senior Class a Seance party which was enjoyed by all. In the latter part of the spring term of l922, we also planned a hike under the supervision of Miss Mary Butler. After much discussion, we decided to hike to Diuguid's Lane. Soon a band representing almost our entire Classset out for the hike. Every one took lunches and the boys contributed marshmallows and wieners. When all had arrived we stacked our lunches in a large pile while Miss Butler and several of the boys and girls went swimming. Later we roasted wieners, toasted marshmallows and ate our lunches. We returned home about dark and all reported a happy afternoon. We entered the Junior Class with ninety-two members. This year we are divided into only two divisions, Miss McConkey having charge of one room and Miss Duncan the other. The junior-Senior Reception, which was given this spring, was enjoyed by all. -HISTORIAN. f452
