By this dedication, the Class of ' 86 wishes to express our sincere appreciation for her time, effort, hard work, and active participation in our class. DEDICATION YEARBOOK STAFF :ditor-in-Chiet na Maria Milani ivertisement Editor Lisa Ann Walsh Yearbook Photographer Danielle Berube Active Mei Our Yearbook Staff worked very hard throughout the year to put this book together. We dedicated long hours compi I ing our yearbook and hope that everyone will enjoy it. We trust that it will bring back many happy memories that the Class of ' 86 has had at Salem High School. We tried to include at least one picture of every senior to the best of our ability. We are sorry if we have unknowingly offended anyone by any picture or statement. A special thanks goes to Donna Stewart and Danielle Berube who took most of our candids. Lisa Walsh and Lee Rosenfield have also contributed much of their time to the building of our yearbook. I am grateful to Cindy Rowe, who has helped me greatly throughout the year. Last but not least, I would like to thank Ms. Gallo, without whose help we could not have completed our yearbook. I wish the best of luck to the Class of 1986. Anna Milani Editor-in-Chief 4 Ana Paulina Gutierrez We, the Yearbook Staff, would like to express our sincere thanks and appreciation to Ana Paulina Gutierrez, who designed the art work for our yearbook. Ana Paulina, a sophomore at Salem High School, is an exchange student from the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico for the 1 985- 1 986 school year. She designed the witch art work in such a way that, if the divider pages are seen together, the witch is flying back and forth. It will make the yearbook look serious, nice, and mysterious at the same time — just like a witch, she commented about her style. Ana Paulina will return to Mexico in late July. However, we will always remember her kind personality, willingness to help, and her im- portant contribution to our yearbook. Once again, thank you, Ana Paulina, for all your hard work. We wish you the best of luck on your return to Mexico. THE YEARBOOK STAFF SPECIAL EDUCATION 6 7 September8, 1 982 was our first day of high school. As freshmen we were nervous and unsure. T he school was so large and there were so many corridors and rooms. We participated in our first Pep Rally in November. Our spirit really showed through at the Rally and at the annual Thanksgiving Day Game, which we won. As our freshmen year came to a close, we weren ' t nervous anymore and looked forward to a great sophomore year. With the sophomore year came class rings, PSAT ' s, and class elections. Our officers for sophomore and junior years were President — Michele Garabedian, Vice-President — Darcia Sadoski, Secretary — Andrea Pesce, and Treasurer — Tammy Fitzpatrick. We attended the Sophomore Social and won our Thanksgiving Day Game against Beverly. Then, our junior year arrived. That year we lost our Thanksgiving Game to our rival team. We attended the Junior-Senior Winter Cotillion and the Junior Prom. Tom Rossi and Melissa Nadolna served as King and Queen. Also, during our junior year, the German exchange trip took place. Ten of us will never forget the great time we had. Over the past four years we have witnessed many great plays at Salem H igh School such as “Cheaper By the Dozen, “Blithe Spirit, and “Up the Down Staircase as well as musicals such as Fiddler On the Roof, Carousel, “The King and I, and “The Sound of Music. Finally, senior year arrived. SAT ' s needed to be taken, college applications needed to be completed, and classes needed to be passed. Our class officers remained the same except for our new Vice-President — Leslie Michaud. We participated in our last high school Pep Rally in which Lisa Lenares was elected Queen. On Thanksgiving Day, our football team lost to Beverly. Despite the blinding snow and harsh wind, Salem admira- bly performed with their best team effort. The Junior-Senior Winter Cotillion was held in January, Trisha Crawford was crowned Queen. The theme of our Senior Show that was held in March, “Salem High Jail, was quite appropriate. For having only two weeks to organize it, the show was quite a success. The faculty also joined in the spirit and performed their own show. No one will ever forget Mr. Kenney ' s rendition of “Romeo and Juliet. This year seemed to be the time for selling candy. Everyone sold enough M M ' s, candy bars, and Gummi Bears to last a lifetime. April vacation arrived and many students in our class headed for Florida. Everyone returned to school tanned and relaxed. Awards ' Night was held on May 22. About 140 seniors received awards and scholarships. June 2, 1 986 marked the beginning of Senior Week. Our Senior Prom was held on this night at the Sheraton Tara in Danvers. The theme song for the Prom was “Just You and I. Michael Dunn and Alicia Fuller served as King and Quee n. Although it had rained mostly all morning, the sun appeared in the afternoon and made way for a beautiful evening. Wednesday, June 4, we all attended graduation practice at 1 0:00 a.m. The luau was also held that evening at Bertram Field. Grass skirts and leis added just the right touch to the festivities. Thursday evening was our banquet and our last social event as the Class of 1986. Tomorrow is Graduation Day. This day marks the end of four years of hard work and dedication. We have made many friends and memories that we will treasure for a longtime. Always remember, Every minute of the future is a memory of the past. (Opus). I wish everyone the best of luck in their future endeavors. Karen Cameron Class Historian . . . 1986 8 ORS Salem High School o uvr es Stfnpevcvmo jfer . 0 U tC4 i S$wnafo yn jf t leac i feo (Ae Ua 4.
