Mr. Paul Porochniak We record with deep sorrow the passing of Mr. Paul Porochniak, a man of strength and sensitivity. We appreciate the years of sincere and invaluable work with which he has helped to build our school. We admire the devotion with which he has guided many, and we find ourselves indebted to his superior character. Mr. Porochniak has been a friend and a gift to all — the school, the pupils, and humanity. The mark he has left at Salem High School we recognize as a light by which each of us may be guided. 8

Editorial Age, out of heart, impatient sighed: — ' I ask what will the Future be?’ Youth laughed contentedly, and cried: — ' The future leave to me!’ ” — At this moment, to some of us the future may be vague, to others it may be sure. Nevertheless, we all have in ourselves the inherent quality of hope, for while older men dream dreams, younger men see visions. Whichever visions each of us may see, we shall strive for satisfaction. After all, satisfaction is the greatest ambition. We are on the threshold of a new experience, ready to begin our world as adults. We are in this world at a time when we can do what no one has ever done before. That is what education means — to be able to do what one has never done before. Our education has helped prepare us to face this challenge; it has developed our individual personalities and the significance of our lives to ourselves and to others. We now realize that success is measured not only by material things, but also by personal satisfaction. We look back to all our warm memories at Salem High School. We remem- ber the difficult times as not being so difficult, and the happy times as being happier. We remember the aid and guidance of our teachers and parents. They have given us their love and encouragement and example. We will never forget the joys, the laughter, the unity, the pride . . . this is the class of 1967. Claire Dansreau Editor-in-Chief 9
