DEDICATION Graduation 1966 was a unique one. It was our privilege to have our graduation Mr. Arnold’s graduation also. The principal’s job brings with it certain requirements and responsibil- ities. We consider ourselves fortunate indeed to have been blessed with the guidance of a man as sincere and understanding as Mr. Chester Arnold. His continuing devotion to his students during their high school years has given them the inspiration needed for the future. Mr. Arnold’s interest in his students’ well-being and development has increased with the years. It began during his career as English teacher at Salem High and continued to grow as the principal of Phillips Grammar School. Upon his appointment to the position of principal of Salem Classical and High School, Mr. Arnold had reached a deep understanding of the joys and fears, the hopes and needs of Salem’s youth. For all this we a re most grateful, but we want to extend a special thanks to Mr. Arnold for what we, as graduates of Salem High School, consider most important. Amidst the present turmoil of American youth, Salem High, under Mr. Arnold, has remained true to its ideals the formation of strong character and good citizenship. As small payment for our debt of gratitude, we, the class of 1966, dedicate this yearbook to Mr. Chester Arnold.

You of the great class of 1966 made remarkable records at Salem High both in your studies and in your extracurricular activities. You also came to understand and achieve strong loyalties to your school and to your class. As your graduation speakers pointed out, there is no security in this world except that of your own strength. Build on your personal integrity and on loyalties intelligently arrived at; then in your lives you will realize the promise of your high schobl years. My warmest wishes for your happiness and success; and a special “Thank you!” to all the Class of 1966. Through your kindness and cooperation you made this year a very special one for me. Chester R.
