Congratulations to the graduating class of 1957. Rapid changes have been going on in the world during the short span of your four years at Salem High. In that time words like auto- mation and fission have become part of the common vocabulary and imply further great changes to come. There are, however, words that never change or lose their signi ficance — words like integrity , loyalty, and reverence. These are the really important words. How well you have learned the meanings of the eternal words, and how well you apply these meanings in your life — that will be the true measure of your success. To the members of the Class of 1957 of Salem Classical and High School, I extend my heartiest congratulations. May the splendid friendships that you have made during the four years in high school be continued through- out the rest of your lives. Your parents and those of us who have had an opportunity to observe your development throughout the years that you have attended the schools in Salem, know that you will do your part in meeting the complex challenges of modern society, and that you will ably handle any and all responsi- bilities that are given you.
