DedlcatiM During the four years that we spent at Salem High— years that have been both fruitfu l academically and happy socially — the faculty have been our edu- cational leaders and our friends. They have been genial and patient as teach- ers in the classroom, and friendly and congenial in our social affairs. They have taught us much by example, as well as by word. To the entire Salem High faculty, as well as the principal, Mr. Arnold; to the vice principal, Mr. Tivnan; and to all the other administrative members of the faculty, we, the class of 1957, are duly grateful. Our gratitude can be expressed in no better way than by this dedication of The Witch,” sincerely made and thankfully offered.

Congratulations to the graduating class of 1957. Rapid changes have been going on in the world during the short span of your four years at Salem High. In that time words like auto- mation and fission have become part of the common vocabulary and imply further great changes to come. There are, however, words that never change or lose their signi ficance — words like integrity , loyalty, and reverence. These are the really important words. How well you have learned the meanings of the eternal words, and how well you apply these meanings in your life — that will be the true measure of your success. This, too, will be the measure of our success as teachers. CHESTER R. ARNOLD Principal, Salem Classical and High School Congratulations to the class of 1957. I would like to express my sincere thanks to Miss Theresa E. Miaskiewicz and Mr. Al- fred J. Pasquale for their untiring effort in producing this Yearbook. I have a special place in my memory for the class of ’57 because it was only four short years ago that I, too, entered Salem High. The years have been truly interesting, exciting and educational. May the lessons you have learned at Salem High prove lasting, and may the future bring to each of you the success you so deserve. JOHN F. TIVNAN Vice Principal, Salem Classical and High School
