Mr. Turner Dedicated Teacher Of The Year Mr. Donald Turner is a very special teacher He has been the chemistry teacher here at the high school fQr seventeen years. Because of his knowledge of science he was chosen as the head of the science department. He knows his subject well and is one of the best-liked teachers at the high school. Mr, Turner was born May 15, 1946. He comes from a family of five children. He has three sisters and one brother. Mr. Turner is the third from the oldest in his family. He graduated from Brownsville High School, where he also played basketbail. He graduated from California State University in Pennsylvania with a Bachelors De- gree in Chemistry. He is the only one in his family to graduate from college. Mr. Turner has been married for seven years to his wife, Susan. Although they do not have any children, Mr. Turner finds many activities to keep him busy. He loves to work on cars in his spare time. He enjoys cooking Spanish rice, which is one of his favorite dishes; and obviously, he enjoys reading chemistry books. Mr. Turner also lectures during the summer at Kent State University- Salem. Mr. Turner used to wear suits when he began teaching in 1969, but he ruined many of his suits while working with the strong chemicals in class. Therefore, he changed his attire to the casual appearence that he has today. Mr. Turner is a very softhearted and kind individual. He knows his subject and can teach it very well. He is well liked and well respect- ed by his collegues and his students. He makes a possibly boring class fun and interesting. For these reasons and many others, the 1986 yearbook staff has dedicated him as teacher of the year.
