f SEURETARIAL STAFF Salem High has a very capable 'kid attractive secretarial staff, who willingly give information to all students seeking it. Miss Bodo, secretary to the Board of Education, has as one of her many duties, the mimeograph- ing of all material sent through the school. Miss Dilworth serves as secretary to the superintendent. ' s Weaver acts as the principal's secretaryg and Mrs. Wilt, who since t e completion of the new wing has moved from the principal's office to an office of her own, serves as record clerk and secretary for the school nurse and for the attendance officer. 57' it Julia Bodo Reba Dilworth i Janice Weaver Vivienne Wilt MUSIC-LITERATURE-ART Mrs. Satterthwaite, instructor of music for the Salem Public Schools, has formed boys' and girls' Glee clubs and is in charge of the High School orchestra. Miss Lehman, school li rarian, has charge of the new, im- proved library which was built in ke new addition to the high school. This year, for the first time, it was necessary for seniors to take two periods of hygiene since no physical training is given the junior year due to the large freshman and sophomore classes, who are required to take it. Mr. Cope has charge of e boys' gym classes and Miss Hanna has charge of the girls'. Miss Sc eder acts as school nurse and teaches the girls' hygiene classes. Schroeder CCMMEIICIAL SUBJECTS Commercial subjects play a very important part in Salem High curric- ulum. Many students take at least one commercial subject during their high school career, as they can puito practical use in any career. Typing is probably the most popular commercial study. It may be taken in many forms, personal typing, beginner's typing, and advanced typing. Miss Bickel teaches typing and shorthand. Mr. Hilgendorf teaches salesman- ship, sociology, bookkeeping, general business, and is advisor for the business staf of the Quaker.
