ir 'lr BUAHD UF EDUCATION if if if as Behind the academic and social programs of Salem High stands a small group of citizens who have no direct contact with the student body, yet Whose efforts and interest are clearly manifested in the high type of edu- cation offered here. ln the hands of this group rests the responsibility of setting the stand- ard of education for Salem High so that it Will be to the best interests of the individual student, of the local community, and of the nation. In formulating the educational policies of the school, the Board of Edu- cation has served the youth of Salem immeasurably by providing a thor- ough, practical curriculum, supplemented by a very essential feature, that of extra-curricular activities which afford the student an opportunity to develop special skills. In providing for supplies, repairs, and other material needs of the school, the Board has shown an awareness of the importance of adequate, modern equipment in high school training. During the past year, in particular, the work of an earnest and capable organization has been especially evident. The new Wing, construction of which Was supervised by the Board of Education, has aided the faculty greatly in administering to the needs of their classes. To the Board of Education, upon whose work to a marked degree de- pends not only the quality, but also the very existence of our high school instruction, We express our appreciation. Standing: A. E. Beardmore, James H. Wilson, John Burns. Seated: E. S. Kerr, F. P. Mullins, Joel H. Sharp, George F. Koontz. 1121
