Mr. VValter Elliott of Salem who had had considerable H experience was the instructor. The class met every Tuesday and , Thursday nights. About thirty-tive pupils, high school and grade, enrolled at the beginning of the year and continued their Work thru- out. Most of these pupils' did not know how to play the instrument 5 they had chosen, but by private lessons and many long hours of prac- tice, in about two months the band made its first public appearance at one of the basket ball games. Several other times during the year the band encouraged school spirit and honor for our high school. Wg? During the summer, instructions were continued and public appear- W' ances were make Decoration Day, Fourth of July and at the Little T T York picnic. VVhen the school year of I925-1926 opened, due to Mr. Elliott's leaving Salem, Mr. VValter Fisher of Pekin was chosen as instructor. This year the membership has grown to fifty members. The band ip played at the Father and Son banquet at several basket ball games p and for one general assembly period. W l ps I Q gg Sw greg . g W LA A Q Seventy-eight
